The Australian Farm Institute is a Company Limited by Guarantee, registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Corporation. Membership of the Australian Farm Institute is available to individuals or organisations that have a significant interest in farming, agriculture, agribusiness or related industries, and that contribute financially to the operations of the Australian Farm Institute.

The Australian Farm Institute is governed by a Board of Directors, who are elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Institute. The research activities of the Institute are overseen by the Research Advisory Committee. The Committee consists of members who are highly respected researchers with backgrounds in a range of different disciplines. Members are appointed by the Board for fixed terms. The Committee’s role is to oversee the integrity and objectivity of Institute projects, and to ensure they are carried out and reported with a high degree of rigor.
