Agriculture Roundtable Conference

- Wednesday, November 05, 2008

The Farm Institute’s 2008 Agriculture Roundtable Conference is next week in Canberra, and promises to be a very interesting 2 days. Starting on Monday night with the Conference Dinner, delegates will hear from Agriculture Minister Tony Burke. It’s been a busy 12 months for Minister Burke’s first year in the position, and I look forward to hearing his thoughts on the challenges for 2009.

Tuesday’s proceedings kick off quite early at 7.30am, with a breakfast address from Mitch Hooke from the Minerals Council of Australia; who has been vocal about the impact of the national emissions trading scheme on exporters. Topics covered at the Conference will include emissions trading and its impact on agriculture, agricultural development in northern Australia, Australia’s future transport needs, and the impact of the global economic crisis on the world and Australian economies.

The Farm Institute will bring you more news from the Conference next week; in the meantime you can register for site updates HERE to get all the latest news from the Institute.
