What is a emissions reduction fund method?

Emissions reduction fund (ERF) methods are assessed and endorsed by an expert committee then determined by the Minister of the Environment. ERF methods contain detailed rules that ensure registered projects earn Australian Carbon Credit Units according to the conditions set within the carbon policy framework. For ERF methods to be approved, they need to be additional to a business-as-usual case, involve no emissions leakage, have scientific validity, follow permanence obligations where required and be audited routinely by a third party.
